The view looks southeastward and shows various multi-story commercial/office and theatre buildings along the south side of the street from Farmer Street (near left edge of photo).to just east of Woodward Avenue (beyond right edge of photo). Business names that are visible include: National Theatre, Chinese National Restaurant, Star Cafe, L. R.. Grosslight, Frank's Loan Office, Nederlander's Loan Office, Bijou Theatre, Pittsburgh Lunch, Columbia Theatre, Frank & Steinberg's Loan Office, Cafe Frontenac, and the Hotel Berghoff. Many pedestrians can be seen on the sidewalks and parked cars can be seen along the side of the roadway. Small white printed text in the lower left corner of the photo reads "From the Manning Bros. Historical Collection. All Rights Reserved." The photo is mounted in a light gray matte board frame. Handwritten pencil text on the frame near the lower right corner of the photo reads "Monroe Ave., 1914."
