The view looks forward along the port side foredeck and shows a silhouette image of Sammy Colburn, who is standing on the bowsprit of the yacht with his back against the forestay. Shrouds, rigging, and deck hardware can be seen in the foreground along with water droplets on the foredeck. The man and a lower corner of the foresail can be seen in the background. The Detroit River, edge of Belle Isle, water intake, and Detroit shoreline are visible in the far background at the left side of the photo.
