Toy, Car
One Stout Scarab wind-up toy car, made of stamped steel by Buddy L. The body is painted red and has decals on the front side doors which have white text that reads "Buddy L, Scarab." The front and rear bumpers, headlights, and a trim strip at the center front all have a brushed chrome finish. The wheels are made of hard black rubber. A chrome steel key on the rear left side of the body winds an internal steel clock spring which powers the mechanical gears on the rear axle, thereby causing the wheels to turn and making the toy move. A metal switch beneath the right rear bumper provides a friction brake on the wheel to make the toy start/stop. Another switch, located on the underside near the center of the clock spring, can be moved to the left or right. When the switch is placed in one position, the car will follow a pattern of straight lines and right turns. When placed on the other position, the car will follow a pattern of straight lines and more frequent right turns.
