Platter

One small platter from a river towboat or shoreside facility of the Jones & Laughlin Steel Company of Pittsburgh. The oval-shaped platter is made of heavyweight, white glazed china. It has a flat, upturned rim with a thickened outer edge. A narrow green diamond/dot and double dash pattern is stamped along the outside edge. A decorative pattern of green urns and floral swags is stamped across the remaining width of the rim. At a break in the decorative pattern at the center of one of the long sides, green text reads "J&L Steel." The underside is stamped with a small green floral logo and text that reads "Rex Pattern, Mayer China."
