Hat

One peaked hat worn by Detroit Police officer, Joseph A. Troyanek. The hat has a dark blue twill fabric top, a braided black thread headband with a black cord across the front, and a black vinyl visor. The cord ends are attached at brass buttons that are located on the left and right sides of the hat. The buttons are embossed with the police department emblem and the words, "Detroit Police." The front of the hat has two vent holes which would also be used to attach a badge. Similar vent holes are also located on the left and right sides of the hat. The hat interior has a black cloth lining and a small plastic pocket on the inside top for an owner's identification label. Three small manufacturer's labels are sewn on the inside headband and show size "7 1/8," "WPL 8893, 100% Wool Exclusive of Trimmings," and a union label (unreadable). Handwritten black text along the inside leather headband shows "Cianciolo, Dumas Ct., Farmington" and "1924-1949, Joseph A. Troyanek, Grandpa."
