Carving
One wood carving of a common loon. The carving has a flat bottom and depicts the loon in a seated or floating position with its wings folded at the sides and back. The entire surface of the sculpture is covered with intricate carving work that shows the fine details of bird's features with particular emphasis on the wings and feathers. The head, beak, and neck are painted black with several narrow white striped areas on the neck. A small circle of red/black plastic is used for each of the eyes. The breast is white. The back is mostly black with small white spots and patches. Some subtle brown highlights have been added to the areas of the wings and tail feathers. The flat bottom is covered with green felt. Handwritten black ink text on the underside near the tail reads "Ray and Vince Kaiser, 1998."
