Cartoon

One framed original political cartoon by Detroit News cartoonist Draper Hill featuring Detroit Mayor Coleman A. Young, rendered for print in black and white in pencil, ink, marker, and duo shade developer on duo shade board. The cartoon shows Young in a full studded leather outfit and an "olive branch" whip standing in the doorway of Detroit City Council. Young is saying, "One would think you turkeys had never seen an olive branch before." A sign on the door reads, "Knock respectfully before entering." It is signed by Young at the top with the message, "To Carol, the bearer of the Olive Branch." In another handwritten note at the bottom, it reads, "For Carol Campbell, connoisseur of the subtler forms for persuasion... with every good wish! - Draper H." It is dated June 26, 1984, in a beige mat, and behind non-glare plastic in a simple black painted wooden frame.
