Carriage
One horsedrawn Phaeton carriage. The body is painted black with a black leather dashboard, mud guards, and retractable top. There is tufted green wool upholstery on seat and footrest. It has natural wood wheels, and axles (possibly made of oak) and brass hubs. This is a completely hand-made vehicle. The crossbars above the springs end in volutes.
It was originally owned by Thomas Scheich, father of the donor, who purchased it from a Mr. Lempke, owner of a carriage shop on Gratiot Avenue near Riopelle Street.
