Bowl, Sugar
One small sugar bowl from the dining room of the Book-Cadillac Hotel in Detroit. It is made of white glazed china and has a plain round bowl shape, a wide circular top, decorative handles on opposite sides, and a short circular base. A single yellow stripe is painted on the outside edge of each handle. A wide red stripe with narrow yellow edges encircles the bowl just below the rim. The multi-color, shield-shaped logo of the hotel is painted on one side of the bowl just below the red stripe. The underside is stamped with green text that reads "Shenango China, New Castle, PA," along with the company logo which shows an image of a seated Native American who is painting a piece of pottery.
