Landmarks on the Detroit shore are indicated underneath the image, from left to right: Truax House, Merchant's Wharf, Campau House, Roby Wharf, Fort Shelby, Jas. A. Abbott's Warehouse, Wings Wharf, St. Ann's Church, Gov. Hulls Residence, and French Chapel. The foreground shows the Canadian shoreline with several people standing, sitting, and playing near the Detroit River. The steamship WALK-IN-THE-WATER is shown sailing down the river, along with several smaller sail boats. The shoreline of Detroit occupies the background.
