Lureina

One cigar box top illustration, "Lureina," that was done by the O. L. Schwencke Lithographing Company of New York. The drawing was done in watercolor on a thin sheet of white art board. It shows a vertical oval-shaped, head and shoulders image of a young woman whose yellow and white dress has a slightly revealing décollatage. The image has a decorative gold-colored scrollwork border that is surrounded by a dark blue background. Gold-colored text above the image reads "Lureina." The artist's name or marks are not visible. A large black ink stamp on the verso has text that reads "This sketch is valuable and is the property of the O. L. Schwencke Lithographing Co. All rights in the design and title are reserved." A smaller black ink stamp has text that reads "Art Gallery of Windsor, 15." The drawing is mounted in a tan matte board frame.
