Celebrate the birth anniversary of legendary jazz trumpeter Kenny Dorham with Quiet Kenny: The Music of Kenny Dorham, a special tribute led by Detroit trumpeter Stephen Grady Jr. Featuring Dorham's memorable compositions and arrangements, the performance honors one of modern jazz's most lyrical voices, whose collaborations with Detroit greats including Joe Henderson, Barry Harris, Tommy Flanagan, and Kenny Burrell helped shape the genre.
A leading voice among Detroit's next generation of jazz musicians, Grady has performed with renowned artists including the late Marcus Belgrave and Geri Allen, as well as James Carter, Bob Hurst, Kareem Riggins, Rodney Whitaker, and many others.
Presented in partnership with The Carr Center, Detroit's cultural arts organization celebrating the African American experience through exceptional performing arts and arts education.
