Detroit’s history lives in the stories we carry, the places we remember, and the voices that refuse to be erased. Join us as the Black Bottom Archives presents their Preserving Black Legacy panel, featuring an intergenerational group of Detroit’s griots who are dedicated to safeguarding Black Detroit’s past, present, and future. Through lived experience, collective memory, and traditions of resistance, these storytellers ensure that the city’s history is preserved from the ground up.
This conversation invites us to listen deeply, ask meaningful questions, and honor the people and neighborhoods that have shaped Detroit. Come gather, learn, and bear witness to history as it is shared by those who carry it forward.
