Celebrate the season with an evening of holiday fun for all ages! Explore This Is 100: America’s Thanksgiving Parade, a colorful, interactive exhibition featuring festive artifacts from the Parade Company archives and the Detroit Historical Society collection. Discover the stories behind beloved parade traditions, larger-than-life balloons, marching bands, and memorable milestones from the parade's history.
Take a trip down memory lane in our SantaBears exhibition, featuring the beloved holiday bears introduced by Dayton Hudson in 1985. What began as a holiday shopping promotion quickly became a tradition of its own, with new bears, outfits, and characters delighting generations of shoppers.
Get creative in the Holiday Crafts Corner with a holiday craft and SantaBear coloring sheets. Enjoy performances by Detroit’s own Velvet Carolers, then dance your way into the season at the Dance Party in the Gallery of Culture, featuring the return of DJ Lexy spinning classic funk and soul jams all night. The Museum will be decked out in holiday cheer, with hot chocolate and donuts available while supplies last. And be sure to stop by the Museum Store to shop for holiday gifts!
