Join us for this month’s Members Night at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum as we bid farewell to summer with a “sip, paint, and play” experience! Help bring Currents in Color to life by adding your own brushstrokes to a vibrant community mural inspired by Detroit’s people, waterways, and natural beauty.
Created by Detroit-based multidisciplinary designer Brontae Williamson, this collaborative painting project invites artists of all skill levels to paint one of sixteen 4-foot-square, paint-by-number-style panels that will come together to form a 32-by-8-foot mural. Our exhibition team will be onsite to guide participants as they help create a work that celebrates Detroit’s creative spirit, the region’s rich maritime heritage, and the legacy of Paint-by-Number—a Metro Detroit innovation that transformed art into a shared experience.
Once complete, the mural panels will be assembled and permanently installed on the west-facing wall of the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, leaving a lasting mark of community creativity for years to come.
Guests can also enjoy friendly competition with classic board games and Detroit trivia, as well as refreshments and an End of Summer Signature Cocktail to toast the season. We look forward to hosting members and their guests for a relaxing, fun-filled evening surrounded by the museum’s rich maritime history.
