On the 51st anniversary of the sinking of the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald, gather at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum for an evening of remembrance and reflection.
The evening will feature a screening The Legend Lives on, a documentary about the 2025 Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Swim. Seventeen teams of four relay swimmers symbolically retraced the ship’s intended route and cargo delivery, passing iron ore pellets between them from the same dock in Superior, Wisconsin, where the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald took on its final load.
Swimmer and event organizer Jim Dreyer, who has swum across all five Great Lakes, will join us for a Q&A about the memorial swim and the making of the documentary. The evening also offers an opportunity to reflect on the 29 men who lost their lives aboard the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald and the many others lost in Great Lakes sinkings. Warm drinks and cookies will be available as we gather in their memory.
