Join us for a morning of Great Lakes history, music, food and remembrance as we honor the mariners who never made it home.
The morning begins with a Great Lakes–related presentation, followed by a short musical performance by celebrated Great Lakes balladeer Lee Murdock. Then gather around the table for lunch prepared by Detroit’s Common Pub. The menu draws from George Yaworski’s Ships of the Great Lakes Cookbook, including recipes from the Edmund Fitzgerald chapter, connecting the meal to the culinary traditions of the vessels and people of the Great Lakes.
Soups: Knickerbocker bean soup and corn chowder
Salads: Macaroni salad and Greek salad with pickled beets
Entrées: Chicken paprikash and beef stew with mashed potatoes
Dessert: Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting
Coffee, iced tea and lemonade will be served.
Together, the presentation, music and meal offer an opportunity to reflect on the lives and stories behind Great Lakes maritime history and remember those who were lost.
