From 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., join us for a special educational program titled “The Moral and Social Scope of Juneteenth.” This powerful presentation will feature original poems, music, and essays written by Detroit students, offering personal insights into the significance of Juneteenth.
This program is dedicated to celebrating and reflecting on the historic day when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed of their freedom—more than two years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Participation is free with registration.
