Arvell Jones is a pioneering comic book artist best known for his decades of work with Marvel and DC Comics, where he helped bring iconic heroes to life, including Iron Fist, Black Panther, Captain America, Thor, The Avengers, and Superman. A Detroit native, Jones co-created the Marvel character Misty Knight, who later appeared in Marvel's Netflix series Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. In 2017, Marvel selected him to create concept art promoting the blockbuster film Black Panther, and in 2019 he was recognized as one of Marvel's Greatest Creators. Today, his groundbreaking contributions to comics continue to inspire new generations of artists and readers alike.
B.K. Taylor is an acclaimed cartoonist, illustrator, and character designer known for his work in National Lampoon, Sick magazine, and the beloved Odd Rods sticker series. A Detroit-area native, Taylor studied at the College for Creative Studies and began his career creating humorous illustrations and comics that blended detailed artwork with a distinctive sense of satire. His wide-ranging career has included designing characters for Jim Henson’s Muppets, contributing to Sesame Street, and writing for television, including ABC’s Home Improvement. A longtime creator across comics, animation, and illustration, Taylor continues to bring his imaginative worlds and irreverent humor to audiences.
Michael Kucharski is a Detroit-based illustrator, graphic designer, and comic artist whose career spans more than four decades across illustration, publishing, entertainment, and museum design. A professional illustrator since 1977, Kucharski has created artwork for advertising, fantasy and science fiction projects, publications, and other creative endeavors while developing a distinctive style rooted in storytelling and imagination. He currently works at the Detroit Historical Society, where he helps bring Detroit’s history to life through exhibitions and visual design. His career reflects a lifelong passion for comics, illustration, and the power of art to engage audiences.
