Since 1972, the Historic Houses of Worship Tour Series has acquainted metro Detroiters with the contributions religious institutions have made in the development of our community. Tours highlight the importance of maintaining and preserving these historic sites as living history. These tours are co-sponsored by the Detroit Historical Society and the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of Michigan.

Unless otherwise noted, all tours run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and both depart from and return to the Detroit Historical Museum.

Ticket Prices are as follows:

$30 per person for Detroit Historical Society Members
$40 per person for Guests

All tours include transportation to and from the sites and a light lunch.

Special Tour - Former Detroit Synagogues Thursday, April 22 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.   As part of their 50th anniversary celebration, the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan is offering a special tour of four historic houses of worship that were formerly synagogues.  The tour will focus on how Jewish and Christian symbols and art have been blended to honor both religious traditions as exemplified in each of the venue’s interiors.   The tour will include: ·         Temple Beth El (now owned by Little Rock Baptist Church) ·         Shaarey Zedek (now the Clinton Street Greater Bethlehem Temple) ·         B’nai David (currently the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church) ·         B’nai Moshe (now St. Paul A.M.E.
