Detroit Artists Showcase John Gelsavage, a painter and illustrator, spent his career capturing the world of America’s working people. He produced works for Detroit newspapers, advertising firms, and numerous retailers and manufacturers.

Fabulous 5: Detroit’s Beloved Sports Coaches The Fabulous 5 exhibit is an ever-changing salute to the people, places, events and historic moments that have contributed to Detroit's rich heritage. Detroit Historical Museum utilizes this premier lobby space to showcase and pay tribute to everything that has made Detroit one of the most unique and notable cities in the world.

Michigan Senior Olympics The Michigan Senior Olympics (MSO) was founded in 1979 as a member of the National Senior Games Association. The MSO initially channeled their efforts into the annual Summer Olympic Games with the first games hosted by the City of Pontiac at the Pontiac Silverdome.

New to the Collection The Detroit Historical Society holds more than 200,000 artifacts in its collection. Long after memories fade and perspectives change, these objects will remain to document our past and contribute to a broader understanding of the individuals, places and events that helped shape our region’s history.
