Film Series: Radio Priest
Detroit Historical Museum

FREE with Museum admission!

See the rise of Father Charles Coughlin and the nation’s changing attitudes toward him throughout his career, this film explores several decades of his influence.  You’ll learn about the building of his powerful radio empire, the expansion of the Shrine of the Little Flower — as well as why there was a new post office in the city during the height

of his career.

 

Run time: 24 min.


Lest We Forget

Detroit Historical Museum
Tuesday, September 14
6 p.m.

Admission to the screening is FREE!

This inspiring documentary tells the story of the black soldiers and sailors who made history during the American Civil War including the 102nd U.S. Colored Troops from

Michigan.

 

O’Den, an Emmy-nominated writer, producer,and director, will be available for questions following the screening.

 

The Black Historic Sites Committee will also have information available for those interested in learning more about the group or in volunteering for upcoming activities as it celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Treats in the Streets
Detroit Historical Museum
Sunday, October 24
1 - 4 p.m.


Trick or treat in the Streets of Old Detroit during the 9th annual Treats in the Streets.  Children 12 and under can decorate pumpkins, enjoy donuts and cider, and participate in the "Get that Ghoul!" history hunt.

Nick Paul will delight audiences with "The Magic of Nick" - a blend of clean comedy, magic, live stunts, juggling, and mime.

Admission is FREE for children 12 and under in costume.
