New to the Collection
The Detroit Historical Museum is constantly collecting artifacts that tell our region’s unique stories and in this exhibit visitors will have the chance to see some of our newest additions, including:
- Artifacts from the legendary Tiger Stadium, donated by the City of Detroit and the Detroit Tigers, including an original brass ticket window from the 1930s and a set of orange seats numbered 1-4;
- A natural leopard coat with ranch mink collar purchased at Rollins Furs in Detroit from 1967, donated by the Herbert Family;
- A beer barrel from the Schmidt Brewing Company of Detroit circa 1933-1951, donated by Bob and Esther Sarkozy;
- A mohair cape and matching hat from the Hudson’s downtown store on Woodward. The donor, Marjorie Benedict Shultz, was the fashion coordinator for the Woodward Shops from 1948 to1950.
- A collection of Detroit-themed t-Shirts ranging from 1975-2000 donated by Dan Graschuck.
